Sino Sam gets quarter-boned
From bury the problem Bill:
Bill Shorten has told Labor senator Sam Dastyari to resign from his role as the Opposition’s deputy whip in the Senate.
The Opposition Leader has also asked Senator Dastyari to resign as chair of the parliamentary committee on the future of journalism.
“Last night I spoke to Senator Sam Dastyari and told him to resign from his senior Labor positions in the Senate,” Mr Shorten said in a statement this morning.
“I told Senator Dastyari that his mischaracterisation of how he came to make comments contradicting Labor policy made his position untenable.
“I also told him that while I accept his word that he never had, nor disclosed, any classified information, his handling of these matters showed a lack of judgment.
“I know that Senator Dastyari will learn from this experience. I have asked him to inform the Senate at the first available opportunity.”
Not enough. Yesterday was his “last chance”. Now he’s got another last chance.
He’s got to go. This is serious national interest stuff demanding the high moral ground.
