NZ unemployment falls to 4.6%

Statistics New Zealand has this morning released its labour force data for the September quarter, with the unemployment rate falling to 4.6% from 4.8%. The key changes are outlined in the below table:

As shown above, employment rose by by 2.2% in the September quarter to be up 4.2% over the year, whereas the labour force participation rate rose by 1.0% to 71.1% (up 1.0% over the year) to the highest level on record.
