Apparently, the Committee of Sydney wants to appoint a ‘smart commissioner’ to merge so-called digital innovation with urban planning so that Sydney remains globally competitive with other technologically-savvy cities and remains a desired place to live. From The AFR:

Sydney has a “window of opportunity” to use the resources of the Greater Sydney Commission and take advantage of the NSW’s government current enthusiasm for infrastructure investments to develop technology that can improve the life of its residents, said Michael Comninos, a strategic advisor to the Committee for Sydney and director of consultancy group Astrolabe.
