Jobs boom bypasses entry level job seekers

The battle for entry-level jobs is fierce and growing across Australia, according to a new report from Anglicare, which estimates there is an average of 4.8 job seekers for every entry-level job – defined as “level 5 – requiring Certificate I or completion of secondary education”:

Moreover, the number of entry-level jobs (level 5) as well as semi-skilled jobs (i.e. “level 4 – requiring Certificate II or III, or at least one year of relevant experience”) has fallen sharply over the past five years, despite the strong growth in the population:
