Trade surplus fell heavily in June quarter

The Australian Bureau of Statistics (ABS) today released trade data for the month of June, with Australia’s trade surplus falling to $856 million from $2,024 million (revised) in May.

In seasonally adjusted terms, exports fell $439m (1%) to $31,779 million in June, whereas imports rose $730 million (2%) to $30,923 million on the back of capital goods ($733 million).
