Seniors demand stamp duty cut to downsize

A survey of 800 seniors by LJ Hooker and property portal downsizing.com.au has claimed that stamp duty is precluding senior Australians from downsizing from their family friendly homes, preventing this housing from being used by the next generation. From The AFR:

Of those surveyed, a quarter (25 per cent) said the cost associated with moving house was the biggest barrier to downsizing while 30 per cent said paying no stamp duty or a reduced rate of stamp duty would incentivise them to downsize.
