Monthly inflation breaks out!

Melbourne Institute monthly inflation has broken out with a 0.5% surge for April, raising the year on year number to 2.6%:

The trimmed mean is less impressive at 0.3% and 1.7%. Moreover, the three moving average suggests that much of a recent rebound has passed.

I am unmoved!
