Another dumb privatisation screws the public

NSW electricity distribution businesses have won an important court case against the Australian Energy Regulator, which threatens to send NSW power bills skywards and has set a potential precedent for power bills to rise across the nation. From The Canberra Times:

In the ruling, the Australian Energy Regulator lost on most counts when it sought to restrain spending by power companies… The decision has national ramifications since the approach being taken by the regulator with the NSW power companies is to take effect with the power industry in all other states over the next few years.
