Melb/Syd auction clearances still running hot

CoreLogic released its auction report yesterday, which revealed another weekend of strong auction conditions, despite the national auction clearance rate falling to 77.6% from 78.1% last week, and remained well above the 67.1% recorded in the same weekend last year:

Auction volumes nationally (3,424) were also way above the same weekend last year (1,831).

As shown above, Sydney’s auction clearance rate was 81.5%, just above last weekend’s 80.7% and well above last year’s 67.1%. Auction volumes were also much stronger, with 1,392 homes going under the hammer versus 678 on the same weekend last year:

Melbourne’s auction clearance rate rose to 81.0% versus last weekend’s 80.6%, and was well above last year’s clearance rate of 73.2%. Auction volumes were also higher (1,458 versus 803):

In Brisbane, the auction clearance rate fell to 54.6% from 56.8% last weekend, but was above last year’s 47.7%. Auction volumes were also higher (182 versus 160):

Finally, in Adelaide, the clearance rate fell to 67.4% versus 80.6% last weekend, but was up on the same weekend last year (63.6%). Auction volumes were again higher than last year’s (170 versus 74):
