Australia records big trade surplus in February

The Australian Bureau of Statistics (ABS) today released trade data for the month of February, with Australia’s trade surplus rising to $3,574 million from $1,503 million (revised) in January.

In seasonally adjusted terms, exports rose by $469 million (1%) to $32,054 million in February, whereas imports fell by $1,601 million (5%) to $28,832 million driven by consumption goods (down $859 million or 10%) and intermediate and other merchandise goods (down $792 million or 9%).
