Madness as Melbourne’s population surges 108,000 in FY16

The Australian Bureau of Statistics (ABS) has released its Regional Population report for the 2015-16 financial year, which revealed that Melbourne remains the king of the population ponzi, adding a ridiculous 107,770 people to its population in 2015-16, representing growth of 2.4%:

Looking at the time series chart, you can see that Melbourne has dominated the nation’s population growth, leading the way in each and every year since 2004:
