Auction clearances still running hot

CoreLogic released its auction report yesterday, which revealed another weekend of strong auction conditions, with the national auction clearance rate rising to 80.8% from 77.8% last week, and remained well above the 64.9% recorded in the same weekend last year:

However, auction volumes nationally (1,402) were slightly below the same weekend last year (1,488).

As shown above, Sydney’s auction clearance rate was 83.1%, well above last weekend’s 80.5% and last year’s 71.2%. Auction volumes were also stronger, with 766 homes going under the hammer versus 729 on the same weekend last year:

Melbourne’s auction clearance rate rose to 84.3% versus last weekend’s 80.4%, and was above last year’s clearance rate of 68.6%. However, auction volumes were lower (1,399 versus 1,236):

In Brisbane, the auction clearance rate rose to 61.1% from 59.8% last weekend, and was well above last year’s 38.5%. However, auction volumes were down on last year’s (126 versus 152):

Finally, in Adelaide, the clearance rate surged to 87.0% versus 69.5% last weekend, and was up significantly on the same weekend last year (51.6%). But auction volumes were down on last year’s (82 versus 95):
