New car sales continue to weaken

The Australian Bureau of Statistics (ABS) today released new motor vehicle sales for the month of January, which registered a 0.6% seasonally adjusted rise in the number of sales over the month but a 0.9% decrease over the year:

Two jurisdictions reported a increase in new car sales in January whereas six recorded falls in seasonally adjusted terms.
