Auction clearances stay strong

CoreLogic released its auction report yesterday, which revealed another weekend of strong auction conditions, with the national auction clearance rate rising to 77.0% from 76.6% last week, to be well above the 71.8% recorded in the same weekend last year:

However, auction volumes nationally (2,280) were slightly below the same weekend last year (2,347).

As shown above, Sydney’s auction clearance rate was 83.5%, just below last weekend’s 84.8% but well above last year’s 76.5%. Auction volumes were also stronger, with 844 homes going under the hammer versus 800 on the same weekend last year:

Melbourne’s auction clearance rate rose to 76.7% versus last weekend’s 75.4%, and was still slightly above last year’s clearance rate of 76.5%. However, auction volumes were slightly lower (1,103 versus 1,105):

In Brisbane, the auction clearance rate fell to 50.6% from 65.7% last weekend, and was below last year’s 53.1%. Auction volumes were below last year’s (117 versus 172):

Finally, in Adelaide, the clearance rate fell to 68.9% versus 72.3% last weekend, and was down slightly on the same weekend last year (64.6%). Auction volumes were also lower than last year (86 versus 112):
