Former Treasury head, and current Secretary of the Department of Prime Minister and Cabinet, Dr Martin Parkinson delivered a speech Tuesday night at the Institute of Public Administration Australia’s annual address to the public service, which contained the below nugget:

In many developed economies, inequality has risen and the public feels as though the social compact is broken, leading to a backlash against free trade, globalisation, and immigration.
