Chinese tourism arrivals smash more records

The Australian Bureau of Statistics yesterday released its overseas short-term arrivals and departures figures for October, which continued to show a trend rise in the number of inbound tourists, with Chinese arrivals continuing to boom.

The number of short-term visitor arrivals rose 0.6% in October in trend terms, whereas short-term resident departures rose by 0.4% over the month. The ratio of annual arrivals to departures also rose to 82.7%, which was the highest level since September 2010 (see next chart).ScreenHunter_16657 Dec. 12 14.51
