Youth labour market deteriorating fast

Yesterday’s ABS labour force release for October revealed a further deterioration in labour market outcomes despite a slight improvement in the headline unemployment rate to 12.75% from 12.82% in September (see next chart).

However, as you can see in the next chart, total employment growth for those aged 15-24 years of age has deteriorated sharply recently and turned negative (see next chart).
