Investor finance roars back to life

Today’s housing finance data for September, released by the Australian Bureau of Statistics (ABS), posted a big seasonally adjusted rise in investor finance commitments, although the trend in mortgage growth continued to weaken.

According to the ABS, the total number of owner-occupier finance commitments (excluding refinancings) rose by a seasonally adjusted 0.5% over the month but was down 7.8% over the year:
