The recently released Household, Income and Labour Dynamics in Australia (HILDA) survey showed that there are around one-quarter of Australians at retirement age that do not own a home and are reliant on the rental market:

Researchers at the Swinburne Institute for Social Research have released a new report entitled Security in retirement: the impact of housing and key critical life events, which finds that renting pensioners are doing it tough, with the situation likely to worsen over the decades ahead.
