By Chris Becker
The US economy seems to be soaring – if one measures economic strength by how much crap you can buy at the mall – with advanced retail sales showing a new quarterly high giving the Fed more ammunition to raise rates. This sent the US dollar higher against everything, finishing off a tumultous week as corporate earnings start a new season dissapointingly. Coupled with a slump in Chinese exports and the fallout from the Deutsche Bank crisis, the outcome for risk in Asia has been mixed, with Aussie stocks in particular on track to make a new monthly low.
As usual for the Monday morning wrap, I’ll step back and look at longer term charts for the bigger picture view.
