Bob Carr’s “China whatever” think tank takes righteous pounding

This morning I defended the second track diplomacy activities of Bob Carr’s Yuhu Group funded think tank but the AFR is not so kind:

Research from a Beijing-linked University of Technology, Sydney think tank was used to justify the decision to sign the free-trade agreement with China and join the Asian Infrastructure Bank in parliamentary debates.

UTS’s Australia-China Relations Institute is partially funded by Yuhu Group head Huang Xiangmo, who is also chairman of the ACRI board. Mr Huang is the president of the Australia Council for the Promotion of Peaceful Reunification of China, which has been dogged by accusations it is a Beijing front organisation.

The council often echoes Chinese government policy and the Chinese leader of the council is a member of the powerful Politburo standing committee, it has been reported.

Mr Huang is so central to the institute he recently told The Australian Financial Review he personally appointed former foreign minister Bob Carr to be its director.

The article cites a long list of quotes by politicians referencing pro-China positions David Coleman , Joe Hockey, Michaelia Cash, Andrew Robb and Terri Butler, and concludes:

Swinburne University of Technology professor and China expert John Fitzgerald has argued Mr Huang set up the institute to advance “Beijing’s policy positions in Australia” and accused Mr Carr of simply making “China-Whatever comments”.

“There may be a place in Australia for an organisation that presents an unfailingly pro-Beijing view of the world. But does it belong in a university?” he said.

Hear, hear. As we’ve said for some time, comments from ACRI and its media gun the ultra-uber-super China bull Professor James Laurenceson should always be taken with a grain of salt. That goes for pollies as well.

The Carr Sinologists had better get their act together because the marvelous Idiot Tax has entered the sector with a timely rebranding amid an intensification of competition for the pro-Chinese dollar:

Sino-StrayaInstitute

You may have noticed there has and hasn’t been much activity at this site recently. No posts, yet a facelift. Please note the red. This is an important change in direction as I have been laying the groundwork for my new think-tank and lobby group, The Sino-Straya Institute.

With Australia facing economic headwinds after pissing away a decade long mining boom, there are several important reasons to start The Sino-Straya Institute at this point in timebefore too many Chinese donations and gifts are captured by other similarly unscrupulous whores.

This will be an opportunity for those who believe they are our best and brightest and feel, despite their assumed talents, they haven’t yet been suitably rewarded by their country tomake shitloads selling Australia out help improve relations with this important economic and strategic partner while getting that much deserved beach house at Byron or Sorrento.

The Australian media is dealing with unprecedented disruption, with lower advertising revenue, while requiring more content to fill the 24 hour news cycle. With the demands on journalists’ time knowing they are lazy click chasing whores who will shamelessly quote washed up, pants down, ankle holding, relevance deprived former politicians and current business people as they speak as a paid mouthpiece of China they will require a trusted and authoritative source on Chinese matters. The Sino-Straya Institute can also help facilitate Chinese government propaganda to attract authoritative content on China that can supplement local content and increase advertising more ads for shoddily built apartments.

This linking of Australia’s best minds and media Dunning & Kruger will ensure an important conversation and debate one-sided wall of information about China’s importance to Australia’s future growth visa/infrastructure/real estate sales can occur and the Australian government and public can remain informed on China mind their own business when it comes to regional disputes, spying and human rights violations.

Important policy positions of the Sino-Straya Institute will include:

  • Incentives for foreign investment in domestic residential real estate 15% tax on all local real estate buyers, while offering a $100,000 foreign buyers’ grant.
  • The importance of immigration to grow the Australian economy overwhelm infrastructure, lower living standards while levitating property prices in the absence of any real industry
  • Reflect the growing importance of the Chinese position in the region underline this is China’s part of the world while making vague threats the US should keep its beak out
  • Combating a rising tide of ill-informed commentary in Australia’s political spheremonotonously screaming racism to disarm legitimate critics while through corrupt and deceptive practices actually increasing the reach of One Nation & Pauline Hanson
  • Raising awareness about the importance of Chinese investment in Australian infrastructure lobbying the hell out of state and federal governments to flog off everything that isn’t nailed down before pulling out the claw hammer to loosen the nails on everything else
  • Ensuring Australia knows that China has worked hard on human rights and openness and is not far from a democracy crossing our fingers that if we ever need an organ transplant there will be a Falun Gong organ ready to go

The demand from Australia’s best and brightest political and business minds talentless rent seeking hacks has been overwhelming as they clamour to share their wisdom and build a dialogue between Australia and China figure out how to say blow-job in mandarin before leaving on a trade mission

The Sino-Straya Institute promises a robust platform that offers:

  • a flow of fact sheets and briefings hideously one sided content to be slightly reworded and shoveled to your audience
  • sponsorship of visits to Australia by overseas policymakers and experts bought and paid for voices who toe the China line
  • research papers from academics consultants to companies who will specifically benefit from any increased Chinese money flow
  • collaboration with think tanks and universities in Australia and around the world linking with like minded whores who are already enjoy being funded by Chinese money
  • public analysis in the media from the Director, Deputy Director and other staff we’ll be showing up everywhere to lend our trustworthy white face to the Chinese side of any debate
