Shares are mixed in Asia, with the Shanghai Composite down 1% currently, well below 3000 points after a poor performance last week. It was the day of Chinese PMIs to shine and lift the bourse out of its doldrums, but they did nothing of the sort, slipping into contraction territory.

The Nikkei lifted as Yen weakened slightly while the ASX200 surged in the morning before topping out, eventually lifting 0.4% to almost reach 5600 points.
