The Australian Bureau of Statistics (ABS) has released visitor arrivals and departures data for the month of June, which registered another fall in annual immigration to the lowest level in more than 9 years.

In the year to June 2016, there were 681,950 permanent and long-term arrivals into Australia – basically flat from June 2015 but well down from the record 792,500 arrivals set in the year to January 2013 – partly offset by 419,170 permanent and long-term departures from Australia (see next chart).
