RP Data: Annual rental declines accelerate

Core Logic-RP Data has released its rental report for May, which revealed that annual rents have continued to decline, down by 0.3% at the capital city level in the year to May 2016 – the lowest rate of growth on records that date back to 1996:

As shown above, Brisbane (-0.9%), Perth (-8.8%), Adelaide (-0.9%), and Darwin (-16.9%) recorded rental falls over the year, whereas Sydney (+0.9%), Melbourne (+2.3%), Hobart (+3.7%) and Canberra (+0.1%) recorded increases.
