OECD warns on houses and holes

The OECD has released its latest three-page update on the Australian economy.

It’s a fairly boring read, but does conclude with a few explicit warnings suggesting that the economy is built on fragile foundations:

“Australia’s exposure to commodity-market developments, particularly those linked to the Chinese economy remains an important source of uncertainty and risk. Domestically, the unwinding of housing-market tensions to date may presage dramatic and destabilising developments, rather than herald a soft landing”.
