Coalition loon pond rises against climate change
Sigh:
Labor has criticised a NSW Liberal Party resolution formally calling on the federal government to organise a series of public debates to test climate scientists’ claims about global warming.
The motion, passed by more than 70 per cent of the party’s state council at the weekend, reportedly recommended the debates feature scientists from the Intergovernmental Panel on Climate Change and “independent climate scientists”.
Malcolm Turnbull, a strong proponent of cutting Australia’s greenhouse gas emissions, was also heckled during his speech and a large number of delegates declined to join colleagues in a standing ovation for the Prime Minister, Fairfax Media reports.
Environment Minister Greg Hunt has previously declared the “science is settled” and downplayed divisions within the federal Coalition.
Will the real prime minister please stand up.
