More MPs push Turnbott towards electoral suicide

From The Australian:

Malcolm Turnbull is being urged to rule out changes to negative gearing on investment properties as Coalition MPs use the Prime Minister’s own words to warn of a damaging impact on the economy if the tax breaks are cut.

“I think we should have an unequivocal position,” a Liberal MP told The Australianon Wednesday, amid a growing political fight over the government’s message.

Other MPs said it was time to rule out changes to negative gearing because of the risk of hurting ordinary Australians trying to build up their wealth by investing in property.

“I don’t think we should be making any change to it,” said one MP.

A third said Labor’s move to scale back negative gearing added to the need for the Coalition to rule out any change so that voters could see a clear differentiation between the two major parties.

“There’s no point tinkering with negative gearing and muddying what will be a very powerful attack on the Labor Party,” he said.

Good to see the gents so committed to national interest policy. If Turnbott does go full fear factor I predict he will lose the election given he will be utterly exposed as nothing more than Tony Abbott’s fig leaf, an entity that no self-respecting polity can vote for.
