New car sales stalling

The Australian Bureau of Statistics (ABS) today released new motor vehicle sales for the month of December, which registered a 0.5% seasonally adjusted fall in the number of sales, but a 2.2% increase over the year, with ongoing strong growth in the sale of Sports Utility Vehicles (SUVs) reported.

As shown above, sales rose in December in six jurisdictions but fell heavily in two.
