The Australian Bureau of Statistics yesterday released its overseas short-term arrivals and departures figures for September, which continued to show a trend rise in the number of inbound tourists and a reduction of out-bound tourists.
The number of short-term visitor arrivals rose 0.7% in September in trend terms, whereas short-term resident departures were flat over the month. The ratio of annual arrivals to departures also rose to 78.0%, which was the highest level since July 2011 (see next chart).
