ABS household income survey shows worsening inequality

The ABS on Friday released its biannual Household Income and Wealth Survey covering the 2013-14 financial year, which revealed that average post-tax household disposable income was $87,776:

A quick examination of the states and territories shows that pre-tax household disposable income in 2013-14 was highest in WA and the ACT and lowest in Tasmania and SA. Capital city households also earn around 10% more than the nation as a whole (whole of state and capital city figures shown below).
