HIA: End is nigh for dwelling construction boom

The Housing Industry Association (HIA) has today released its Winter 2015 National Outlook, which once again forecasts the peak of Australia’s dwelling construction boom this year before recording a 7.0% decline in dwelling starts next year followed by a further decline of 8.6% in 2016/17. From the Media Release:

“During 2014/15, we estimate that a total of 214,450 new dwelling commencements occurred across Australia. This is easily the highest yearly total on record,” remarked HIA Senior Economist Shane Garrett.
