The Housing Industry Association (HIA) has today released its Winter 2015 National Outlook, which once again forecasts the peak of Australia’s dwelling construction boom this year before recording a 7.0% decline in dwelling starts next year followed by a further decline of 8.6% in 2016/17. “During 2014/15, we estimate that a total of 214,450 new dwelling commencements occurred across Australia. This is easily the highest yearly total on record,” remarked HIA Senior Economist Shane Garrett.
