Roy Morgan unemployment eases

Roy Morgan Research (RMR) over the weekend released its unemployment estimate for the month of January, which registered a 0.2% fall in the unemployment rate to 9.8% from 10.9% in December. Unemployment was also down 1.5% over the year (see next chart).

However, according to Gary Morgan, workforce participation has fallen sharply over past year with 207,000 less Australians looking for work:
