No open and shut case for privatisation

The AFR is running a series of articles today (here and here) espousing that asset sales to fund new infrastructure are “an open and shut case”, and imploring the Queensland and New South Wales Governments to get on with the job of privatising the states’ assets:
Expanding Australia’s infrastructure and removing bottlenecks is one of the surest means of boosting productivity and generating growth in a soft economy. The bill will be huge, but selling mature government-owned assets to fund new infrastructure will ease that considerably.
