G20 Sunday forecast hottest on record

More on the ironic G20 weather forecast. If it reaches the forecast 39C it will break the November record by more than 4 degrees:

It appears the G20 is being singled out:

  1. It’s all the hot air being emitted. I’m impressed by the BOM’s forecast abilities these days!

    • Yeah, seems almost “arranged”, doesn’t it?

Mental picture of intellectual midget Abbott sweating profusely in the Brisbane sun, saying “Global warming is crap”.

      • Mental picture of intellectual midget Abbott sweating profusely in the Brisbane sun, saying “Global warming is crap”.

Perhaps the one & only thing the A$$hole has ever been correct on!

      • Market Trash Joe will be sweating up a storm too….he was sweating on RN breakfast yesterday after the big announcement. He knows they’re cactus.

    • God? Maybe like this?

ABC news; Our reporter John Doe reports from the Brisbane Convention Centre.

John Doe; Mercury hit 39.8C today, a new record for November in Brisbane as the world leaders sweat like pigs. Some world leaders were not so accustomed to this intense heat wave.

Merkel; Oh my, it is so hot. I heard that Australia is a tropical country, but still, is it usually this hot in Brisbane around this time of the year?

John Doe; Well, no…., not exactly. It broke the November record by a whopping 5C, in fact. The global warming is……

Abbott; Excuse me, John!! You are out of line, mate!!! Eh, Chancellor, let me tell you something. We called the God to make the weather very hot specifically for the summit.

Merkel; Why would you do that?

Abbott; To make Putin sweat of course!! That polar bear from the frozen land must be fainting in this heat. This is Australia’s secret weapon. I don’t give a crap about the Russian fleet. God bless Australia, you got that!?

    • Don’t worry, they’ve got the rocket scientist George Christensen on the case of the BOM.

That’s when he’s not calling environmentalists the biggest terrorism threat in North Queensland. To be fair, that was before his boss discovered ISIS the Death Cult.

    • It has been my opinion for years that the next target for those attempting to deny questions of scientific fact will be those pesky meteorologists.

Of course, when they attempt to get them defunded, it will be because they’re in on the lefty PC groupthink global scientific conspiracy.

      • Yep… They just don’t get it do they. Objective transparency should never get in the way of dogma.

What they really need to start doing is “hedonically adjusting” their weather forecasts and various other climate results so it suits the narrative of maintaining climate stability.

  2. Yer at the same time snow has begun falling already at its earliest time in 100 years in North America. It is sad to see this site degenerate into the world of the fringe. If I want this sort of analysis I would read the green left and whatever Christine Milne has to say. Australia has serious economic issues with quangos such as the housing lobby causing major distortions and inequality. I was so excited when I found this site and its unique analysis. Would be nice if you went back to living up to your name Houses and Holes.

    • Yer at the same time snow has begun falling already at its earliest time in 100 years in North America.

It’s almost as if climate scientists predicted that we would see more extreme weather patterns all over the world, more frequently… oh wait, that’s exactly what they predicted.

      • What utter nonsense. How convenient a theory that no matter what the climate does – (or in this case weather) the cause is always “global warming”.

Define “more extreme weather patterns”, we certainly haven’t seen an increase in Hurricane or Tornado frequency.

Hotter on average in Summer global warming.
Cooler on average in Winter, you guessed it still global warming.

If it isn’t falsifiable it isn’t science.

      • If it isn’t falsifiable it isn’t science.

Which of the many theories that constitute the science around climate change do you feel are unfalsifiable and why ?

      • A 2012 investigation finds that dinosaurs released methane through digestion in a similar amount to humanity’s current methane release, which “could have been a key factor” to the very warm climate 150 million years ago.[4

      • “Between my dinner and my shoes, I’m doing my best to try and fix that problem.”

Yet despite your effort, there doesn’t seem to be a cow shortage

    • “Yet at the same time snow has begun falling already at its earliest time in 100 years in North America.”

A perfect example of the Dunning–Kruger effect. So staggeringly ignorant of the Science and the effect of adding extra energy into the climate, but yet, still feel confident enough to voice your ignorance in the public domain 🙂

      • The Snowball Earth hypothesis maintains that the severe freezing in the late Proterozoic was ended by an increase in CO
2 levels in the atmosphere, and some supporters of Snowball Earth argue that it was caused by a reduction in atmospheric CO
        2. The hypothesis also warns of future Snowball Earths.

In 2009, further evidence was provided that changes in solar insolation provide the initial trigger for the earth to warm after an Ice Age, with secondary factors like increases in greenhouse gases accounting for the magnitude of the change.[45]

      • @Ratcunning “The Snowball Earth hypothesis”

WTF? Are you playing the Chewbacca Defense?

How does the Snowball Earth (unproven) Hypothesis change these indisputable, proven FACTS:
        1) Humans are emitting C02
        2) CO2 is a Greenhouse gas
        3) Greenhouse gases warms the atmosphere

    • Mambarino

Ha ha. You watch catalyst, show is about as credible as your avatar – lets all stop taking statins! Micro Brain – we can always trust the left to get personal as their arguments are nearly always flawed, personal assaults is all you are left with . This really is the world of the fringe.

      • Of course, everything that has ever been on Catalyst is a lie.

Thank god we have a few brave souls ready to stand up against the “nearly always flawed” arguments of the “left”, undeterred by lack of evidence, scientific process, or the laws of physics.

    • Yer at the same time snow has begun falling already at its earliest time in 100 years in North America. It is sad to see this site degenerate into the world of the fringe.

      Indeed.

“Out on the fringe” with practically every relevant scientist on the planet.

      Crazy stuff.

    • military’s been engineering the weather for 10+ years globally. They send 6x globemasters out of brisbane airport every couple of days @ 4:00 am (my brother works there). Global ‘climate-change’ tax for the peoria market that is Australia. The fact that they changed from (legitimate) global cooling rhetroic is because the crown et al are buying up every piece close equatorial land, with the envision of the original cooling scenario. My opinion, both scenarios are bunk. They can/will switch back to a ‘cooling’ scenario for US, because the people are sufficiently programmed to accept both since the 70’s.

  3. guess what….the planet heats and cools…

take the polar vortex early this year in nth america where niagra falls partially froze

to think that we, as humans, can influence weather so much is absurd…what about all the NO, CO2 etc that was spilling out of volcanos over millenia

what about the fact that antartic sea ice has INCREASED this year, massively

the biggest threat to the planet is OVERPOPULATION….which is rarely talked about

    • the biggest threat to the planet is OVERPOPULATION….which is rarely talked about

You can’t have visited this site very much.,

      • Don’t confuse a lack of consensus, here, as an outright Denial it makes you sound like an over zealous churchie.

There is still a lot to be learned by our species about the cause and effects of earths climate History, let alone predicting its future.

There is too many unknowns in all of the current climate modelling for me to embrace this very unscientific, blind faith, that some think “the consensus” demands.

The way the word “Denier” is thrown around is not just infantile, but an insult in the way it trivialise’s Nazi atrocities.

      • “Too many unknowns” blah blah bloody blah

That’s exactly the same thing Big Tobacco said about smoking and cancer. Exactly.

Author Clive Hamilton, is his book Scorcher, says that one can find the following arguments in the various papers promoted by deniers:

        * There is no evidence of global warming.
        * If there is evidence of global warming, then it is not due to human activity.
        * If global warming is occurring and it is due to human activity, then it is not going to be damaging.
        * If global warming is occurring and it is due to human activity, and it is going to be damaging, then the costs of avoiding it are too high, so we should do nothing.

    • “what about the fact that antartic sea ice has INCREASED this year, massively”

Because the ice on the LAND of Antarctica massively melted this year and reformed ice in the salty water of the sea.

Care to comment on how the Arctic sea ice went this year?

“what about the fact that antartic sea ice has INCREASED this year, massively”
Because the ice on the LAND of Antarctica massively melted this year and reformed ice in the salty water of the sea.

NYARRHARHARRHARR Ive got you glamb, if that were the the case then the ice would be demonstrably thinner…

        aaahh shit hang on…

  4. ‘And having done so the question becomes, what value will climate sensitivity estimates ultimately zero in on? The current value is around 2C, with estimates decreasing with time and with every prospect that they will continue to do so at least while the warming “pause” persists. My guess is that they will eventually settle somewhere below 1.5C – maybe even as low as 1C, which is generally agreed to be the climate sensitivity to a doubling of CO2 in the absence of feedbacks. At these levels the perceived risks of man-made global warming decrease very significantly but that will have to be the subject of another post.’

    http://euanmearns.com/zeroing-in-on-the-true-value-of-climate-sensitivity/#more-5356

    • This explains why you are so muddle-headed, 3d. You get your climate science from 75 year old retired geologists like Roger Andrews! 🙄

      • Did you disagree with his analysis?

For mine, I suspect his final suggestion will prove true. The more alarmist claims from IPCC will moderate over the coming years, the IPCC itself morph into a generalist environmental unit, science having superseded ideology.

      • “My Guess”, “for mine, I suspect” ….

Err – I’ll stick with the peer reviewed stuff thanks. Oh and that still persisint 100% peak body consensus – that holds despite it all being driven by the need for funding and there being plenty of money around to debunk AGW.

Ian Plimer is a prime example why peer review is essential.

      • HR, I’ve a signed copy of Plimer ‘s Not for Greens prominently positioned in my office. The chapter on Energy is worth the price of admission. 😉

      • 3d,

I have a copy of “Heaven & Earth” – I obtained for free.

It’s original cover is removed and it’s now entitled “Bullshit Bible” and it too, occupies a prominent position on my office bookshelf.

My god that book is filled with misinformation. Like the page where he shows past CO2 as being really high. Except he removed the error bars and all the other data points pointing to far lower CO2, he also failed to reference the source. So he’s taken somebody’s research, distorted it, removed key information and the published it without reference … While I respect his earlier work – on does quite seriously have to wonder whether the poor old sod has early onset dementia.

His book “how to get yourself expelled etc” – makes the false accusation that the Siple data and the Mauna Loa data don’t line up. errr but they really, really obviously do line up …. Sure if you fabricate your own Siple data – then they don’t line up – and I say that, because the data he indicates – quite simply is NOT the Siple data …

So lord know what shit he wrote in “Not for Greens” – history suggests it’s mostly misinformation …

    • Hottest November day since 1968 just doesn’t have the same ring as,

      THE HOTTEST DAY EVER!!!!!!!!

CLIMATE CHANGE = DEATH BY AIDS

      • And I would add that so far Sunday’s temperature is still a forecast until it actually happens.

Remember last year when the BOM had to come up with a new ‘colour’ for their temperature chart it was so hot. Only problem was that this was a forecast and the temperature never actually occurred.

But it didn’t matter for the warmist they still got their propaganda in the news with regard to new colours on the temperature map.

      • Still could break the record. They’re forecasting well into the 40s just west of Brisbane.

I wanna see those leaders sweat, especially Abbott.

      • So are you saying that your article statement :
“If it reaches the forecast 39C it will break the November record by more than 4 degrees”

        Could still be true? How?

Just admit you made a mistake and move on.

      • Lorax dude, your salivation for a hot day, the action of a desperate man cognisant a fervent held belief is melting away.

      • Could still be true? How?

No, I said could still break the record. If they’re forecasting 39C it could easily be 39.5 or 40 which would break all records at both weather stations.

Just admit you made a mistake and move on.

More than happy to admit I didn’t notice that the current Brisbane weather station started operations in 1999.

As 3d1khead says, its just weather after all. What’s so delicious about this is that record breaking heat has arrived at the worst possible time for a Prime Minister who would desperately like climate change to go away as an issue, especially when he’s hosting the 20 most powerful people on the planet.

      • “No, I said could still break the record. If they’re forecasting 39C it could easily be 39.5 or 40 which would break all records at both weather stations”

I am commenting on the article, not your comments.

Title: “G20 Sunday forecast hottest on record”

It is not forecast to be the hottest

“If it reaches the forecast 39C it will break the November record by more than 4 degrees”

If it reaches the forecast 39C it will still be below the record. No way could 39C be 4 degrees above the record.

You should update your table with the correct one as well. It does not look good on you if you fail to fix the article of mistakes pointed out to you.

  5. I hate to be boring – but one peak temperature does not AGW prove – all the long term data does that.

    • Yes, but all G20 members will be getting up and checking the weather forecast to hear “record heat”. You think that won’t make an impression?

      • It’s all about the optics and I do get that – I just think that unwitting misrepresentation of the since in the media has not helped AGW…

      • lol. AGW does not need help, HRH.

“The good thing about science is that it’s true whether or not you believe in it.” (Neil deGrasse Tyson)

      • If you make a theory, for example, and advertise it, or put it out, then you must also put down all the facts that disagree with it, as well as those that agree with it. There is also a more subtle problem. When you have put a lot of ideas together to make an elaborate theory, you want to make sure, when explaining what it fits, that those things it fits are not just the things that gave you the idea for the theory; but that the finished theory makes something else come out right, in addition.

In summary, the idea is to try to give all of the information to help others to judge the value of your contribution; not just the information that leads to judgement in one particular direction or another.

  6. BOM Brisvegas for Saturday
Pray that they’ve screwed this up. Thunderstorms are not needed
“Very hot and mostly sunny. The slight (20%) chance of a thunderstorm in western suburbs in the afternoon. Winds north to northwesterly 15 to 20 km/h turning northeasterly 20 to 30 km/h in the late morning then tending northerly 25 to 35 km/h in the late afternoon.”

    • A thoroughly debunked article in a rag from five years ago by no other than Chris Booker:

“Christopher John Penrice Booker (born 7 October 1937) is an English journalist and author. In 1961, he was one of the founders of the magazine Private Eye, and has contributed to it since then. He has been a columnist for The Sunday Telegraph since 1990.[1] He has taken a stance which runs counter to the scientific consensus on a number of issues, including global warming, the link between passive smoking and cancer,[2] and the dangers posed by asbestos.[3] In 2009, he published The Real Global Warming Disaster.”

      • Jase – that’s just the thing – ad hominem is the only attack left. You guys know it and exploit it. The various claims of the IPCC are subject to, according to the World Bank, ‘deep uncertainties’.

        It’s a struggle.

      • The ad hominem term does not relate to BIo’s 3d1k, tho some should check for halo effect wrt to your new found interest.

BTW AGW is not an argument based on logical frame works, its about reconciliation of data which informs a theory eg the stronger the data correlation, the stronger the theory.

Skippy… in fact the data can be quite counter intuitive, then logic goes right out the window.

      • Jase – that’s just the thing – ad hominem is the only attack left.

That’s pretty rich given the whole denialist position rests on a giant ad hominem – accusing most of the world’s scientists of corruption and dishonesty.

      • Don’t engage them. If you engage them you feed them, and it creates the impression that there is a scientific debate when there is none.

Understand what you’re dealing with here. 3d1k seeks to discredit science and the scientific method — the greatest force for good in the history of humanity — for personal gain. Lets not beat around the bush. We’re talking evil.

      • Shouldn’t surprise anyone. Denialists have basically just done a search and replace on creationist “arguments”.

From memory he also argues that there’s no link between smoking and cancer.

  7. The problem for rank deniers is, not only does the scientific community have consensus, but, both governments and most large cap corporations, not beholden to activity’s, which are threatened by acknowledgment of AGW, and assorted knock on effects

skippy… sometimes it seems some want too… push the rapture index up on purpose.

    http://www.raptureready.com/rap2.html

    • From http://www.raptureready.com

“You could say the Rapture index is a Dow Jones Industrial Average of end time activity, but I think it would be better if you viewed it as prophetic speedometer. The higher the number, the faster we’re moving towards the occurrence of pre-tribulation rapture.”

Wow, the AntiChrist only got a 3

      But Climate got a 4

Clearly we need to wage a jihad against all the non believers, in this just holy war against those who don’t share our opinion, of the moral righteousness and dire urgency of AGW mitigation.

      • “Clearly we need to wage a jihad against all the non believers, in this just holy war against those who don’t share our opinion, of the moral righteousness and dire urgency of AGW mitigation.” – ratcunning

Herein lies the problem “those who don’t share our opinion”, to some ideologues or esoteric sorts, everything is an **opinion**. Opinions which are the result of a vast array of biases, accepted truisms and deployed falsism. Where the only condition to beautification, of ones opinion based argument, is the inability of others to countenance its self evident objectivity. At the end of the day it just ends up as the best narrative wins.

History is chocker block with the best narrative being the mechanism by which whole societies diminish themselves or brought about their own collapse.

The unfortunate thing is you can’t refute a belief, that takes an epiphany on part of the believer and sadly believers have a bad habit of doubling down when their beliefs are challenged. Then you have the Upton poster children that have vested interests thingy.

Skippy… yet as corroborated data from a wide field [numerous scientific depts.] of more rigorous examinations, keeps mounting, some want to play games with just the one i.e. climate and wrt that, only focus on a few pet or canned talking points, temp, the sun, or liken it to some eugenics program. Silly stuff….

  8. Why does this topic generate so much heated discussion? The weather is not the climate and Science doesn’t care what opinion you hold. Move on.

    • Why does this topic generate so much heated discussion? The weather is not the climate and Science doesn’t care what opinion you hold. Move on.

Because a small but vocal group of people with disproportionate influence on policy people believe that the Science has been, and is being, fabricated by corrupt and dishonest researchers over multiple generations, to push an agenda.

      • I’ve assumed desmodronic is

        http://desmogblog.com

        I might be wrong!

My personal view is there is still much to be learned about the mechanics of climate change over decades, centuries and more. The climatic history of our planet is embedded in geological formations which tell us climate has been a wild ride. The earth has already endured various cataclysmic changes far more extreme than even the most fanciful of IPCC predictions. And will do so again.

I expect various IPCC ‘predictions’ to fail – CO2 is not the prime agent in climate change (which we so poorly understand). Many factors beyond human control contribute to change. It is the folly of humans to think we can master nature, control everything.

Global warming activism has attracted a broad church. I am not yet a believer.

      • 2d, reading your views on climate is like asking a petrol station attendant what he thinks about brain surgery. It’s often amusing, but usually boring, and never enlightening. 😐

      • @3d. Yep, you are wrong. That blog is nothing to do with me.

What happened in geological time is mostly irrelevant to this debate. Biological systems fail when subject to rapid environmental change. That is now and climate change is part of the problem. If you doubt this, go to the Arctic or at least understand what this country has lost in the last 60 years. If you can’t be bothered, shut up.

  9. Mention indias population no because that’s racist.

No government talks of overpopulation, big australia she’ll be right. Lift those 1 million dollar median house prices in Sydney even further!

    • Since today’s Earth has a continent over the South Pole and an almost land-locked ocean over the North Pole, geologists believe that Earth will continue to experience glacial periods in the geologically near future.

Some scientists believe that the Himalayas are a major factor in the current ice age, because these mountains have increased Earth’s total rainfall and therefore the rate at which carbon dioxide is washed out of the atmosphere, decreasing the greenhouse effect.[43] The Himalayas’ formation started about 70 million years ago when the Indo-Australian Plate collided with the Eurasian Plate, and the Himalayas are still rising by about 5 mm per year because the Indo-Australian plate is still moving at 67 mm/year. The history of the Himalayas broadly fits the long-term decrease in Earth’s average temperature since the mid-Eocene, 40 million years ago.

      • The key phrase, Rat, is “geologically near future”. That future is a few thousand years away, by which time, if we continue on our present course, we’ll be goners.

Deniers like to refer to events in geological time, but hide the fact that we’ve only had any form of human civilization for 10 thousand years, and global warming could mean a 4-6+ deg rise in 100 or so years, effectively destroying that civilization.

  10. Some data just in on the Qld/NSW Nov 2014 heatwave to date

November Records have been smashed across Northern New South Wales and throughout Queensland as a Severe Heatwave rips through. Some places just got there, which was good enough. While others obliterated records beyond belief, spending hours above their previous record today. Not only was the temperature itself impressive, but some of these Records have stood for 70 years or more!

10 locations across the 2 States hit the books, with a few coming very close!

    QLD:
    • Amberley 43.0ºc (Previous – 42.1ºc 1944)
    • Kingaroy 38.8ºc (Previous – 38.3ºc 1965)
    • St George 43.3ºc (Equal – 43.3ºc 1968)
    • Warwick 39.8ºc (Previous – 38.0ºc 2009)
    • Edit: Stanthorpe ~37ºc (Previous – 35.7ºc 1996)

    NSW:
    • Casino 44.1ºc (All-Time Record!) (Previous All-Time: 44.0ºc Jan 1994)
    • Evans Head 42.2ºc (Previous – 38.5ºc 2009)
    • Grafton Research Station 42.9ºc (Previous – 41.0ºc 2002)
    • Inverell 38.6ºc (Previous – 38.3ºc 1968)
    • Narrabri 44.0ºc (Previous – 43.0ºc 1997)
    • Tamworth 41.9ºc (Previous – 41.2ºc 2009)

    Close Calls:
    • Gatton 42.5ºc (0.3ºc off)
    • Dalby 40.1ºc (0.4º off)
    • Moree 43.5ºc (0.1ºc off)
    • Walgett 44.6ºc (0.5ºc off)

The scary thing for some of these locations, is they were forecast to have a hotter day tomorrow! So some of these Records may only last just the one day. While other places around mainly SEQ and NENSW are expected to be breaking or nearing Records tomorrow

  11. Measured 40.8 in the shade using a cooking thermometer about half an hour ago.

My weather station up on the roof says 44.9 !
