Bureaucrats bear brunt of wages slump

One of the interesting stories coming out of today’s labour price index release from the ABS was the extent to which wages growth in the ACT has slumped on the back of lower pay claims by the public sector.

In the year to September 2014, wages grew by only 1.7% in the ACT – the slowest wages growth on record and by far the lowest wages growth in the nation (see next chart).
