Russian envoy warns Abbott of Putin judo

It’s a laugh a minute this story. From the AFR:

Russian embassy second secretary Alex Oedovskiy said he considered Mr Abbott’s words immature, rather than tough.

“As I understand, this is quite an old fashioned term which is not widely used in the modern day game,” he said. “Also, it is illegal.

“Another observation would be that as we are aware at this point, there has not be a request for a bilateral at the Brisbane summit from either side. So we are not sure when the Prime Minister would like to shirtfront the Russian President.”

“And finally, I know Prime Minister Abbott is a very keen bicyclist. The Russian President does a lot of judo, which is a type of wrestling.”

Needs to keep his hands up, though, no defense there, and he’s fighting a little boy.
