Following yesterday’s announcement by Immigration Minister, Scott Morrison, that the Government would relax English language requirements and “fast track” approvals to make it easier for Australian businesses to import so-called skilled foreign workers under a 457 ‘temporary’ work visa, Fairfax has today revealed further evidence of rorting of the 457 visa process. From The Canberra Times:
Audits by the Fair Work Ombudsman have found up to 40 per cent of foreign workers employed under 457 visas were underpaid, not performing the jobs they were supposed to do or no longer employed by the person who sponsored their entry into Australia.
