Palmer for PM!

It’s a mad world and it’s getting madder:

Come July, Clive Palmer will have control of the Senate – but he’s after a lot more.

The leader of Palmer United Party has formally announced he will run for Prime Minister if a double dissolution is called over the budget, claiming he’s got a chance of taking the lower house.

…”Our membership has grown dramatically since the budget was handed down,” he said in a statement.

“Australians clearly see the Prime Minister’s platform and we are sure people will not want to vote to Liberal.

“This government has been very un-Australian and has turned against our elderly pensioners in a manner that is very much against the Anzac spirit that is the fabric of our nation.

“Australians don’t want to go back to the polls…however if there is a double dissolution election called, we will see Australians turn against the two major parties.”

Mr Palmer said his party was the “last sentry at the gate for ensuring all Australians get a fair go” and has previously said he would block the debt levy, changes to the pension and Medicare co-payment.

This is really dangerous. The electorate is disenfranchised and angry and will entertain anything that is not a major party. Clive Palmer has no policy substance yet he could become the default power-broker as the nation despairs.
