Falling dollar recharges Australian loins

Sydney may not be as expensive as it was a year ago by global standards, thanks to a weaker local currency, but Australia is still one of the world’s priciest economies, even if dating just got more affordable.

It costs an average of $US104 ($A111.08) for two people to go out on a simple date in Sydney – the world’s fifth priciest city, according to the Deutsche Bank Cheap Date Index.

That’s the same price as dating in Paris, the city of love, but it is actually cheaper than it was in 2013 with the average date back then in Sydney costing $US229.77 – the world’s dearest, and $US226.56 in Melbourne.
