The Victorian manufacturing industry can’t take a trick at the moment.

Following recently announced job losses at Toyota, Ford, Alcoa, Philip Morris, Boral, and Shell, Boeing last night announced that it would cut up to 300 jobs by the end of the year from its Melbourne workforce.

Boeing Aerostructures Australia reportedly employs 1,300 people at its Melbourne site, in design, test, certification and manufacture of advanced structures for commercial airplanes. So the loss of up to 300 jobs will likely represent over 20% of its local workforce.
