Chinese trade data disappoints

Chinese trade data for March has been released, and it has disappointed analyst’s expectations.

Exports fell by 6.6% year-on-year in March, versus consensus expectations of a 4.8% rise.

Imports fell too, down 11.3% year-on-year in March, versus expectations of a 3.9% increase.

The result also disappointed Chinese markets, with the Hang Seng China Enterprises Index (HSCEI) suffering its biggest drop in three weeks, according to Bloomberg.
