WA Treasurer, Troy Buswell, most famous for the 2008 chair sniffing incident , has resigned:

…after he had an emotional breakdown and has been hospitalised for 10 days in Perth and Sydney.

WA premier Colin Barnett has been sworn in as Treasurer and Transport Minister pending a cabinet reshuffle later in the week.

“Troy is in serious state of poor health, he is still under medical treatment,” the premier told the media on Monday.

I would like to say to Mr Buswell from my stand point of total ignorance about his issues, that this is potentially a turning point for the better in his life if it extracts him from the snake-pit of Australian politics. I wish him all the best and encourage him to seek long-term psychotherapy to assist his recovery.
