From Fairfax:

Hot on the heels of Wednesday’s international launch of the Fairfax mansion Elaine, another trophy home owner has rushed to market.

…Set on a 5527-square-metre block on Victoria Road, the property is owned by businessman Ian Joye and his wife Maggie.

The Bellevue Hill Georgian-style estate Barford is now for sale with an ambitious asking price of more than $60 million.

“We’ve held Barford for over a quarter of a century, and Maggie and I have no plans on leaving,’’ said Mr Joye in a statement.

‘‘If, however, an interested party wanted to put a bid of $60 million or more to us, we would of course be happy to evaluate it.

If Barford sells for $60 million it would nearly double the current record for a non-waterfront home, which was set in 2008 when Chinese princeling Zeng Wei and his wife, Jiang Mei, paid $32.4 million for Craig-y-Mor in Point Piper.

Son Christopher Joye told Fairfax Media on Tuesday that he is controlling the sale process on behalf of his father, with a campaign targeting the Chinese trophy home buyers.

Elaine could fetch $100 million, according to Fairfax. What can I say? It’s that crazy time of the cycle!
