SQM: Stock on market lifts in August

As you can see above, there is wide divergence in listings across the capital cities. For example, the number of listings in Sydney remains tight – down 15% over the year – despite a 9.1% increase in August. The opposite is the case in Melbourne and Brisbane, where listings remain highly elevated.
According to SQM’s managing director, Louis Christopher:
“The monthly pick up in online sales listings can be mostly attributed to the fast approaching Spring selling season, which SQM Research believes will see an influx of stock onto the market, particularly post- election. Potentially with more confidence instilled in the national economy, vendors will be encouraged to place their properties on the market.”
