Media watch slams Nine Network’s property puff

Above is an interesting segment from last night’s ABC Media Watch slamming the Nine Network for airing property puff pieces on a Gold Coast housing development, the billion dollar Maddison Estate at Pimpama, which entered into administration in March after racking-up massive debts from investors.

According to the segment, the Nine Network failed to conduct even the most basic due dilligence into troubles surrounding the development (which is still just a big expensive patch of dirt), instead choosing to run flashy promotional-type segments in the lead-up to the development going under.

The segment is a classic example of how Australian media is often beholden to the property industry, acting as a voice piece instead of asking the hard questions.
