Business lending jumps, personal falls

The Australian Bureau of Statistics (ABS) has released Lending Finance data for the month of June, which registered solid seasonally-adjusted rises in housing, commercial and lease finance commitments, but a fall in personal finance commitments (see next table).

In seasonally adjusted terms, the value of housing finance commitments rose by 2.1% in June and was up 13.5% over the year:

Commercial finance commitments rose by 11.5% in June and were up 14.2% over the year, but remain well below pre-GFC highs
The value of lease finance commitments rose by 8.2% over the month but were down by 3.9% over the past year:

By contrast, the value of personal finance commitments fell by 2.7% over June but were up 3.1% over the year:
