Apple isle goes part time

Matt Cowgill has today produced some fascinating charts on Twitter, showing the dramatic increase in part time male workers, particularly in Tasmania.

According to Matt, Tasmania has become the first Australian state whereby less than half of all adult men are employed full-time (see next charts).

Matt has also produced the below the below chart showing how Tasmanian full-time employment is falling even when those aged over-65 are excluded:

Finally, the weakness in Tasmanian full-time employment is also reflected in the overall unemployment rate, which has risen sharply since late-2011 and is now well above the other states:
