From the AFR, GM Holden chairman and managing director Mike Devereux has told journalists that there will be no car industry in Australia without government support and that forthcoming election will include a battle over the industry’s future. He called for an independent inquiry in the hope of turning around the Opposition’s opposition to the current Government program of support.
