Migration system reality check: it’s not going to be easy

As the debate over the right level of net overseas migration into Australia continues in the halls of power in Canberra, a modicum of the reality of migration enforcement has come to the forefront in the media.

The story of Charlotte Camer, who came to Australia as a 1-year-old with her mother on a tourist visa, has been making headlines after the now 27-year-old woman is being told her time in the country is up. 

This has prompted an outcry on social media, with many commenters urging the government or Home Affairs Minister Tony Burke to allow Charlotte to stay.
