Labor doesn’t understand immigration as an issue

Amidst a flurry of headlines regarding changes to the Albanese government’s migration policy, it is increasingly clear that the government doesn’t understand the issue of immigration from a political perspective.

For much of the current political cycle, Labor has been on the back foot on the issue of immigration levels, losing poll after poll to One Nation on which party the voters choose to manage the issue of migration.

According to polling from RedBridge taken in August, 39% of voters believe that One Nation is the party “best able to handle” the issue of the rate of immigration.
